The Planning and Development Department is located on the second floor of the City of Newark Municipal Building, 220 South Main Street.

Call the Planning and Development Department at 302-366-7000, extension 2043, with the property address or parcel number. If you visit the department, you can locate the property on the zoning map.

6. I am purchasing a home in Newark and was told I needed to obtain a Deed Transfer Affidavit. What is a Deed Transfer Affidavit and what do I need to do to obtain it?

When purchasing a property in the City of Newark, a Deed Transfer Affidavit, sometimes called a Zoning Certificate is required.  Its purpose is to inform new homeowners of the property’s zoning and whether or not it is within the 100 Year Floodplain.  To submit a request for this form, see the link on the left or below. You will need to provide the address of the property, the name or names that will be on the property deed, and an email address where you can be reached.
