[ARCHIVED] Announcing City of Newark Kids Coloring Contest

Newark-Kids-Coloring-Contest

To celebrate Public Power Week, the City of Newark in partnership with the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC) is inviting children ages 5 - 9 years old whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are City of Newark utility customers, to participate in the City of Newark Kids Coloring Contest. Those who enter have a chance to win a prize package including a Family Four-Pack of tickets to the Delaware Children's Museum, coloring books, stickers, a water color paint book and more.

Public Power Week, celebrated the first full week in October every year, is an initiative organized by the American Public Power Association and focused on supporting efforts by public power utilities to educate customers and stakeholders about the distinct advantages that public power offers.

"The City of Newark is proud to join the 2,000+ public power communities across the country during the first week of October in celebration of Public Power Week," said acting city manager Tom Coleman. "As a public power utility, the City of Newark is community-owned and operated. We provide customers with the benefit of local control, safe and reliable service, and affordable rates. As a not-for-profit, money generated by the utility flows back into the community to help us maintain the high level of service that draws businesses and residents to Newark."

Those interested in participating in the contest can stop by the Welcome Center at the City municipal building (220 S. Main Street, Newark) to pick up a copy of the image and contest rules, or you may print at home, accessing the image here: https://newarkde.gov/DocumentCenter/View/9283. Children are encouraged to have fun expressing their talents while using their choice of coloring supplies: crayons, markers, colored pencils or paint, there are no limitations when it comes to color.

Deliver the completed artwork to City of Newark by mail to "Newark Coloring Contest" 220 S. Main St, Newark, DE 19711 or in person. Once entries are submitted, they cannot be returned. Please make copies of the original artwork to keep before entering the contest. One winner will be selected and featured on the City of Newark and DEMEC's websites and social media pages.

All entries for the contest must be received or postmarked by October 7, 2017.
