August 31, 2017 – The Newark Police Department is investigating a purse snatching that occurred on Wednesday, 8/30/17 at approximately 1:20p.m. in the parking lot of the Produce Marketing Association, 1500 Casho Mill Road.  The victim, a 27 year old female employee, reported that she parked her vehicle in the parking lot and began walking towards the building when she was approached from behind by the suspect.  The suspect proceeded to grab the victim’s purse strap off of her shoulder and fled the parking lot with the victim’s purse.  The suspect ran towards Elkton Road and was last seen running into a nearby wooded area.  Officers, including a K9 officer and his partner, checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, late 20’s to early 30’s, approximately 5’10’’ tall, 150 – 170 lbs.

There is no surveillance video available for release at this time.
