The Downtown Newark Partnership and Out & About Magazine are proud to host a Newark summer tradition: the Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival. The 14th annual festival will take place on Saturday, July 22, from noon-7 p.m. on E. Main Street and S. Main Street.
"Fourteen years ago, Out & About partnered with the City of Newark to test if a craft beer and food festival could work to boost business for restaurants during the slower summer months," said Jerry du Phily, publisher of Out & About. "Today, it has become one of New Castle County's best summer traditions and a wonderful showcase for Newark's eclectic dining scene."
Food and Brew showcases more than 40 craft and imported beers paired with creative food offerings from 18 Newark restaurants. Unlike most beer festivals, this is a pay-as-you-go event that takes place in the restaurants.
"Food and Brew is much different than a regular Saturday at any of the participating restaurants," said Community Affairs Officer Megan McNerney. "The restaurants are pairing specialty plates with the beers to give customers a unique experience."
Along with unique beers and creative cuisine, Newark's Food and Brew festival also features live music. Several bands will be performing at the lawn on the corner of Academy Street and E. Main Street during Food and Brew. The music line-up is as follows:
Food and Brew is made possible through the support of generous sponsors: WSFS bank and JMT. For a full list of participating restaurants, featured brews and menus please visit NewarkFoodandBrewFest.com.
