May 30, 2017 – On Sunday, 5/28/2017, Newark Police arrested
Sam Votta, Trumye Shackelford, and Ahmar Shackelford for an attempted robbery
that occurred on Lovett Avenue at 2:37a.m. The victim, a 21 year old male
University of Delaware student, reported that he was walking on Lovett Avenue
when he was cut off by a black older model sports car. The victim stated
that two passengers exited the vehicle and demanded that he empty his
pockets. The victim stated that one of the suspects kept his hand in his
pocket, which the victim believed was an attempt to imply that he was armed with
a weapon. A University of Delaware Police Officer turned onto Lovett
Avenue during the confrontation and the suspects then fled in their
vehicle. The victim then flagged down the UDPD Officer and reported the
attempted robbery. Another UDPD Officer then conducted a traffic stop on
a black Chevrolet Camaro on E. Delaware Avenue at Academy Street and all three
suspects (driver – Votta, Trumye Shackelford, and Ahmar Shackelford) were
arrested. All three subjects were video arraigned in front of Justice of the
Peace Court 11 and later released on unsecured bond (Votta - $700, Trumye
Shackelford - $5,500, Ahmar Shackelford - $700).
There is no surveillance video available for release at this
time.
