April 22, 2017 – On Saturday, 4/22/2017, Newark Police
arrested a 12 year old male for the 4/7/2017 residential burglary on Monro
Rd. The juvenile was located by police after a concerned citizen reported
seeing a young male with a backpack looking through cars in the area of Monro
Rd on 4/22/2017 at 1:14am. The juvenile initially fled when officers
attempted to contact him, however, he was quickly located on Connell Cir. and
arrested without incident. The juvenile was identified as being
responsible for the burglary through surveillance footage, physical evidence,
and interviews that were conducted by detectives. He was also identified
and arrested for entering into several vehicles on Monro Rd and Christina Mill
Drive between 4/6/17 and 4/14/17. The juvenile was arraigned through
Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $9500 secured bond with a 24 hour
curfew, excluding school and court.

April 7, 2017 – Newark
Police is investigating an occupied residential burglary that occurred on
Friday, April 7, 2017 at 5:44a.m. in the unit block of Munro Road. A
resident, who is 55 years old, reported that he was asleep in a second floor
bedroom when he heard noises coming from the first floor. The homeowner
reported that he exited his bedroom and noticed some property damage on the
first floor. He then returned to his bedroom and called police.
Arriving officers located an open rear sliding door at the
residence, however, they found the suspect(s) had already fled the
residence. A New Castle County Police K9 Officer conducted a track for
the suspect(s) with his K9 partner without success. It was later
determined that nothing had been stolen from the residence.
There is no surveillance video available for release at this
time.
Residents are reminded to immediately report any suspicious
persons or activity to Newark Police and to ensure that their windows and doors
to their residences are locked.
