What: The City of Newark Parks & Recreation Department will host its annual Spring Community Clean Up, with this year's clean up efforts contributing to the annual Christina River Watershed Clean up. Individuals and volunteer groups are welcome. Supplies including trash bags, gloves and zip ties will be provided to all volunteers, and a volunteer snack will be provided by the Newark Lion's Club following the clean up.
Sponsors for this event include Newark Lions Club, New Castle Bag Company, University of Delaware Environmental Health & Safety and I.O.O.F. Hand of Friendship. For additional information or to register for the clean-up, please contact the Recreation office at 302-366-7000 or email parksrec@newark.de.us with the following information: volunteer name, email, phone number, t-shirt size and desired clean up location (not required).

What: Newark's annual egg hunt is a spring time family tradition. Parents watch, and in some cases help, their children hunt for plastic eggs filled with goodies to celebrate the Easter season. All children should bring a basket or bag to collect their goodies. State Park fees will be in effect.

When: Saturday, April 8, beginning at 10 a.m.
- Walking - 4 years old: 10 a.m. start; 5 - 9 years old: 10:30 a.m. start.
Note: If weather is questionable the day of the hunt, please call the Parks and Recreation Department's Leisure Time Hotline at 302-366-7147 after 9:00 a.m. The rain date is Sunday, April 9, beginning at 2 p.m. for walking to 4 years old and 2:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 9.
