February 18, 2017 –Newark Police have arrested a Claymont man after a vehicle stop yielded two firearms, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred Saturday morning at 3:42 a.m. when a Newark Police Officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of S. College Avenue and Christina Parkway. At this time, the officer observed a brown Hyundai Sonata driving without its headlights illuminated at night time and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer contacted the driver, 21 year old Donovan-Don J. Blake, and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .40 caliber handgun, an AK-47 style firearm with a loaded banana style clip next to it, (10) individually packaged baggies of marijuana weighing a total of 14.7 grams, a digital scale, and a package of small lock and seal baggies. Blake was arrested and transported to the Newark Police Department. He was arraigned in front of JP Court 11 and given $14,200.00 secured bail. As of the time of this release, Blake is still in the custody of the Newark Police Department.
