The City of Newark and DART First State are proposing to replace the Unicity service with a new on-demand service to be called Newark Connect. Newark Connect will provide a low-cost, effective public transportation that would serve the entire City of Newark. Newark Connect would improve mobility, connectivity and offers better access to DART, SEPTA and Cecil Transit services. The proposed Newark Connect service would be accessed through a mobile app on a smart phone, or residents can also make a reservation by telephone, to request a ride.
As part of this pilot, we’ve launched a survey in the current Unicity service area to get input on the proposed service. Please take a moment to complete the survey and share your thoughts. Answers will be collected until February 5.
Three public meetings have been scheduled to learn more about this proposal and go over the results of the survey. They are:
- Wednesday, February 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Newark Municipal Building Council Chambers, 220 South Main Street
- Tuesday, February 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the Main Towers Community Room, 330 East Main Street
- Tuesday, February 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Newark Senior Center Classrooms 1 & 2, 200 Whitechapel Drive
