The City of Newark, in partnership with the State of Delaware and Curative, is pleased to announce a Johnson & Johnson pop-up vaccine clinic will take place on Wednesday, May 12 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. during Main Street Alfresco. The Curative tent will be assembled at the west end of Main Street between Dunkin' and Grotto Pizza. Appointments can be made in advance here, and walk-ups are also welcome.
"We couldn't be more excited to be one of the first cities in Delaware to bring the COVID-19 vaccine to our residents that may have transportation or other challenges, said Jerry Clifton, Mayor of Newark. "We're grateful for the collaborative effort with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency and Division of Public Health to help bring us one step closer to returning to life as we knew it pre-pandemic."
During Main Street Alfresco, Main Street is closed from Chapel Street through South College Avenue in order to provide restaurants and retailers an expanded outdoor seating area to accommodate increased capacity while still observing coronavirus safety protocol. Parking is available in municipal lots 1, 4, 6 and 7 and various private downtown lots.
