Shot Fired Investigation
March 17, 2018 – On Saturday March 17, 2018 at approximately
8:47 a.m. the Newark Police responded to the area of the Red Roof Inn, 1119
South College Avenue, for a report of a shot fired. Officers learned that two
subjects were in a vehicle and were leaving the hotel, when a Honda Pilot
pulled in behind them. A male suspect got out of the Honda and confronted the
male victim and struck him with a handgun. The male victim fled the area on
foot, being chased by the armed suspect. During this time, a round was fired
from the handgun, however, no one was struck. The suspect fled the area in the
Honda with a second suspect in the vehicle.
This investigation is in its initial stages and is being
investigated as possibly domestic related. This incident did not involve
University of Delaware students, and there is not an ongoing threat to anyone
in the area.
