February 23, 2018 - The Newark Police
Department is hosting the 13th Citizens’ Police Academy scheduled to begin on April 3, 2018 and operate through May 22, 2018. The program is designed to
give citizens or students, whom are interested in learning about law
enforcement, a unique opportunity to observe firsthand the various duties and
responsibilities of a police officer. Anyone over the age of 18 may apply
and there is no cost to attend the program. The program meets every
Tuesday evening between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm for a total of 9 classes in 8
weeks. Call or email for more details about the schedule. The
program will offer a variety of instruction to the attendees, including
classroom lecture, first hand participation, and role-playing. The
program curriculum highlights include:
- Traffic Enforcement, RADAR
& DUI
- Crime Scene Investigation &
Processing
- Use of Force
- Firearms
- Police Culture
- Patrol Procedures
- Ride-Along
- K9 Demonstration
