The Newark Senior Center works with the Community Services Corporation to assist senior citizen homeowners, living in the City of Newark by providing free home repairs.
Projects could include: eliminating holes or other hazards in flooring or stairs; installing, repairing, or replacing: doors, windows, screens, gutters, shingles or other roofing, outlets & light switches, battery operated carbon monoxide & smoke detectors, hand & stair railings, and grab bars; minor plumbing repairs (faucets, toilets, hand held shower heads, and raised toilet seats); installation of locks, dead bolts, and door handles with lever-type handles; building ramps & widening doorways; weather stripping, caulking, air seals & insulation to help you save on fuel bills.
Thanks to funding from the City of Newark CDBG & Revenue Sharing Programs, these repairs are offered at NO COST to eligible City residents. Eligibility requirements include: City of Newark resident, homeowner, moderate income (this is not a low income program) – most retirees are eligible. All work is completed by licensed contractors, so you can be assured the project is done correctly.
