The Parks and Recreation Department is continuously in search of recreation leaders and instructors with special skills and interests, as well as seasonal park maintenance and horticulture personnel. The department offers part-time, temporary employment opportunities in a wide variety of program areas.

We are currently accepting applications for these positions:
  • Summer Camp Director
    • (June - August)
      Camp Director will carry out a balanced and fun-filled summer camp program for children ages 6-12 while leading/supervising camp counselors. Direct, organize and carry out activities and skill development for the camp throughout the summer. Communicate policies and procedures to staff, children and parents. Administer first aid if necessary. Experience needed working with school age children desirable or previous camp experience. Pay rate is $11.50/hour.
  • Summer Camp Counselor
    • (June - August)
      Camp counselors will organize and carry out a fun-filled summer camp programs for children ages 6-12 based on weekly themes. Experience working with school age children desirable or previous summer camp experience. Education, recreation, psychology, individual and family studies, or related major helpful but not required. Plan, organize and carry out activities and skill development for your campers throughout the summer. Teach games, sports and arts and crafts and other indoor and outdoor activities. Communicate policies and procedures to children and parents. Administer first aid if necessary. Pay rate is $9.50 per hour.
  • CATCH Kids Club Staff
    • (February 26 - April 18)
      Recreation leaders needed for six week afterschool CATCH Homework Club program held from 2:30 - 5:15 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at Downes Elementary School (220 Casho Mill Road). CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child’s Health) Kids Club is an after-school, community recreation program designed to promote healthy eating and physical activity behaviors to children in grades K-5. CATCH Kids Club includes short lessons on healthy eating and a physical activity component. Staff will supervise and lead children (2nd-3rd Graders) in homework time and physical activities. Program runs Mondays and Wednesdays, February 26 - April 18. Applicants should be available for the entire six-week program. This is a great opportunity for those interested in Education, Child Psychology, Health & Nutrition Promotion and/or Children's Physical Fitness. Pay rate is $9.50 per hour.
  • Lifeguards
    • (June - August)
      Lifeguards provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere at a community swimming pool while swim lessons are being administered. Enforce all departmental and pool policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized pool area. Must have Red Cross lifeguard certification, CPR, and first aid certification.
  • Tennis Instructor
    • (September - October)
      Instruct adults and youth with levels ranging from 2.5 to 3.5.
  • Before / After School Staff
    • (September - June)
      Provide positive leadership and supervision for boys and girls grades K-6. Prefer experience working with school age children. Background in education a plus. Must be prompt, reliable, and dependable.
  • Gymnasium Supervisors
    • (October - March)
      Supervise gymnasium areas while scheduled activities are taking place and enforce rules and policies from Monday to Saturday.
  • Soccer Instructor
    • (September - March)
      Basic knowledge of soccer skills for youth instruction. Individuals must be enthusiastic.
  • Basketball Referees
    • (November - March)
      Playing experience a must; officiating a plus. Individuals must be prompt, reliable, and dependable.
  • Basketball Instructor

      Basic Knowledge of basketball skills for youth instruction required. Individuals must be enthusiastic.
