Crime Map

The Newark Police Department provides recent criminal activity data in the City of Newark which can be searched and viewed on a map. In addition, the State of Delaware provides information about crashes involving vehicles and pedestrians.

Information about crimes within the City of Newark can be found on the City of Newark Crime Map.

The crime data is updated daily and crimes are displayed once the report for an incident has been approved by a supervisor.  Therefore, there may be a delay in the posting of crime data.

At this site, citizens can subscribe to crime alerts and receive email updates when new crimes occur near a specific address.

Criminal incidents are displayed for the previous 180 days and include crimes in the following 14 categories:

  • Arson
  • Assault
  • Burglary
  • Disturbing the Peace
  • Drugs / Alcohol Violations
  • DUI
  • Fraud
  • Homicide
  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Robbery
  • Theft
  • Vandalism (Criminal Mischief)
  • Vehicle Break-in / Theft
  • Weapons Offenses

Notes: 

  • When an incident involves multiple crimes, only the most serious crime is displayed.  For example, a burglary that also involves a theft and a criminal mischief will only display the burglary.
  • Due to their sensitive nature, sex crimes and domestic-related crimes are not displayed.
